Married: Mallory and Josh

Last month I had the great honor of designing flowers for a dear friend and her fiance. Mallory's family was my second family growing up, and her sister and I best buddies. It was extra special for me to be able to design Mallory's wedding florals.

Her and Josh had been dating since high school, and their natural ease and trust as a couple was very clear and comforting to watch. Mallory was absolutely beautiful, and so grown up from the little girl that I remember growing up!

Mallory and Josh were married at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. The fall weather was perfect for a cozy and candlelit reception within the winery's barrel room. Candles rested on every landing, and fall branches and foliage completed Mallory's fall wonderland. It was a beautiful night!

Farewell Flower Shoppe!

As many of you know, we have recently closed the doors to our beloved Flower Shoppe in downtown Danville. Our little jewel of a shack was simply not large enough to accommodate Gillian Marie Event Design, so it is with a bit of sadness that we had to let it go...

We are very excited for our new workshop though, and cannot wait to get working on our THREE November weddings in the new space which fits our 12 foot cooler! (Thank goodness, the back and forth from the shoppe to the house was killing me (and my husband Blake!!)



Thank you everyone who has and will continue to support the Gillian Marie family! We have loved all of our Danville neighbors, but look forward to the growth that our new space will allow.



Change is good, and this change in particular is great for us; both personally and professionally! Gillian Marie Event Design plans for many more years producing wedding florals throughout the Bay Area, and beyond... and this change is helping us do so!

Nicole and Shane - Aug 1 2009

In the beautiful Bay Area we are lucky to have weddings all year long... but with wedding season officially winding down, I have finally found a spare moment to catchup on blogging!

We had countless weddings this summer, all of which deserve a featured blog. One of my favorites was the marriage of Nicole and Shane at Garre Winery in Livermore.

Shane and Nicole had recently bought a home in Texas, so with the help of her mother, they planned their special day 1400 miles away! The wedding was stunning, and the planning process was a pure pleasure.

Nicole's wedding featured white dendrobium and phalaenopsis orchids, roses, gardenias, and mini calla lilies to create a classic, and natural style. Their linens, provided by Wildflower Linens added glamour to the tables.

Many of you do not know that my Grandma is a Breast Cancer survivor. Cancer has touched my life personally, therefore it is with much pride that we support Elisa Wen Clothing Boutique's benefit for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Elisa Wen, a contemporary women's clothing boutique in Danville, is sponsoring an event tomorrow from 12pm to 6pm at their Danville Boutique. A few years ago, my mom and Aunt Joani walked the Breast Cancer 3-Day. They walked with my Great Aunt Marsha, who is also a courageous Breast Cancer survivor. If you have not had the pleasure of participating or supporting the walkers, I strongly encourage you to do so this year. Every walker has a story: some cancer survivors, and others walking in honor of those who fought or are fighting Breast Cancer. Each person who walks and supports the Breast Cancer 3-Day is joining the cause to fight for a cure. It is an amazing weekend, and incredibly inspirational to be a part of. I encourage you to grab your pink tutu's, pop your party CD into the car stereo, and cheer on the walkers as they make their way up the Bay!!

With a cause this dear to all of us, I am so happy to be able to participate in this benefit! Elisa Wen has recently stocked their Danville location. They have great dresses for your summer wedding or BBQ. Also, I hear that they recently got in flower girl dresses! Cute!! :)
